Prologue
Scourge stood, facing his opponent, knowing that, surrounded by his fellow BloodClanners, he would have to kill this tom. A bit of guilt perhaps, or maybe genuine sadness crept over him. But this momentary feeling was lost within the toms body, never reaching his brain long enough to muster up any mercy. "My dear, dear Tigerstar. It seems this is our end." he commented, a slight purr rumbling in his chest. Tigerstar laughed a bit within his chest. "Hehe, I'd have to agree." he said, stepping up to the other tom, ember eyes slightly saddened as well. Scourge chuckled a bit as well, but the effort was meaningless. The feeling crept into his fur. With tears briming his eyes, Scorage raised his claws, enhanced by the dogs nails. "Goodbye, Tiger." he said. And with that, Scourge ended Tiger's life, talons digging into his neck, the warn crimson flow alerting fully to what he had just done. Almost disgusted with himself. Almost being the operative word there. ~~ Twas The Following Morn' ~~ when Scourge re-awoke. In a bit of a daze, he realized something was missing. Ah, that was right. The body of Tigerstar, which had once laid in the middle of his make-shift den, was now gone. Rising fully to his paws, Scourge looked around. An ember gaze radiated from the bushes beside him. A large, moving form parted the bushes branches, giving way to a dark tabby. "Well hello, my Tiger." said Scourge, a purr rumbling in his chest. And with that, the two toms embraced.

"What'da you mean that I can be made an apprentice yet!" wailed the pale gray kit.
The elder white tom sighed,"Firestar is quite too busy for the ceremony yet, Ashkit."
"He's always too busy," came the sharp reply.
Whitestorm narrowed his eyes swathing annoyed with his son,"Maybe it would of been sooner if you wouldn't of pulled that foolish stunt of running off on you own! Without a leader a clan would be nothing, he has better things to do than deal with you whiny wants! Can't you be patient enough for one more moon, for the clan's sake!"
"Ever since mom died you been commenting on everything I do wrong, do you believe it was my fault or something?" the kit whimpered before running out of camp.
Running fast as he could tears blinded to see properly. Why did his father have to hate him so much! With a choked sob he felt something trip his paws. Crashing into the water into front of him, Ashkit let out a wail of surprise. Liquid filled his mouth quickly the extra weight helping pull him down further. Starclan save me, I don't wanna die please! I'm sorry...please...please. Faster and faster Ashkit was pulled him down further, water burning his lungs.

Hawkpaw's head raised slightly. He was easily wandering the Riverclan territory, burning it's features into the mental map which was his mind. The land was quiet flat, really, the mumble that was the river in the distance. But what was this, a small sound in the distance. With a tad of curiosity staining the toms mind he crouched down, creeping up on whatever the sound had been, enemy or friend. The tabby's ear were pinned against his head, as he had seen warriors before him do. Slowly and steadily Hawkpaw crept forward.
The river, unusually quicker today, was defiantly disturbed. Leopardstar had forced him to mind the way the river flowed, so he could determine what was being suffocated within it's cold grasp before actually stumbling upon it. So now, the lithe formed crept up on the rivers sandy bank, blue eyes raising with his head to investigate. The unusual rippling that was being produced was small but quiet violent, whatever was being thrown within the rivers wrath was not to happy to be in such a predicament.
With a slight vantage point beyond the noise, the stark realization crept into Hawk's mind that it could, or more then likely was, a kit in the water. With this though in his head, a slightly panicked Hawk waited for the form to be tossed into his sight.
After a few moments, the form passed him, steadily sinking lower into the cold waters. At this rate it was more then likely that the cat was beyond help (or at least, he was assuming it was a cat; he couldn't be sure). With a bit of a nervous shake Hawk plummeted into the waters, diving downwards at a angle to increase his chances of reaching the whatever-it-was in time. Blue eyes re-opened in the waters, seeing the form rushing past his head, moving along yet going further down at the same time.
Kicking his hind legs defiantly against the current, Hawk forced himself down into the depths of the water after the thing he was growing sure to be a kit. He was getting closer he realized, and soon he parted his jaws to grab the figures fur. Now he was damn sure it was a kit. turning he started moving back up, lungs burning for the air he wanted but knew he could not have just yet. Blue eyes locked onto a figure at the top of the river. If he dropped this cat, he could get there. Hawk knew that that was not an option, and as his legs slowed to a stop, he knew that living might not be one either.

Ashkit felt jaws clamp around him as something drug him closer to the surface. Everything was burning inside him, he began to lose his conscience faster by the second. While the two's lives slowly began to get closer to death by the second a deep and black she-cat wondered near the river. Seeing the two figures in the water she let a snort of disgust.
"Leave it to a clan cat to drown themselves,"she growled dashing to the bank's side.
Quickly with a moment to spare she reaching in pulling the two figures out with a strong tug. Water splashed everywhere drenching the land around her. As she tossed the two toms aside her fur bristled.
"Now what the fuck were both of you thinking. UGH, clan cats are complete idiots, what do you have for a brain - a peanut?" she snarled outraged.
Ashkit coughed up water everywhere from his stomach and lungs, gagging loudly. The small kit shock all over, trying to grasp in enough air. His eyes looked up to the she-cat's staring startled.
"W...wah? W-who are you?" he croaked.
She stared at him touching her nose to his forehead.
"Leave it to a clanner...to let a kit out alone and drown himself! My name...is Inkheart," she meowed.

Hawkpaw struggled on the land, pulling himself together slowly. His mind worked feverishly, trying to piece together what had happened, yet the effort seemed lost. His mind was a clouded mess at the moment. With a few small coughs his lungs dispelled the water that had accumulated, a slight painful task. He blankly looked over to the she-cat and kit, his mind trying to recall what had happened. All at once realization hit, a sharp force which did, hypothetically, knock him over. Blue eyes peered at the grey kit and darker colored, older she-cat. He scrambled back a few paces, looking st both the cats with slightly narrowed eyes.
"What are you doing on Ri -- Ah who cares..." he decided, moving down into a brown slump on the ground.
He was very tired, his muscles sore, heart still racing a bit. A warm tongue was wiped over his head, slightly boodshot blue eyes raising to look at a particularly mad looking grey cat.
"Aye-a, you clanner-kittens should'n be more carefulz around'er the waters, ah-nors?" she said, a slightly hoarse laugh escaping her maw.
Hawk let out a small sound (Sort of like a Kyaaa), one of slight interest in this older cat. She peered down at him with slightly mad, slightly happy lime-green eyes. With a small sigh, the she-cat continued.
"Eh, Inkly my dearest'n, maybes we shall'ist keep thy young'ns within our caring fer the night'n hour-ah. Oi, it would'inith be horrids if dey never'n reached theirs homes. OH! I moost'ge fergottun, ittle kuttun, I amst Lily!" she said, seemly going to continue forever in her quiet hard to understand voice.
Hawk's eyes reamined confused. What the hell had she just said? Turning to the Ink cat he sort of tilted his head to the side, the turned, slightly wearily to Lily.
"Yeah, right then. Im Hawkpaw..." he said, then, suddenly remembering the grey figure, he turned to the kit. Scrambling up he ran to the kit, tongue washing over his ear.
"Eh, so you're okay then?"

"I...I-I'm fine," he stuttered from what seemed the cold.
The small kit stumbled to his paws falling forward onto his face. With a mew of annoyance Ashkit lifted his head up spitting out dirt in his mouth. Inkheart purred in amusement, watching him.
"Hey kid what's your name?" she meowed.
"A-Ashkit," he mewed.
He glanced around staring at all the larger and older cats.
"Eh...guess they should come," Inkheart muttered.
Ashkit's flattened his ears, would the clan worry? Would Whitestorm...no they probably wouldn't even notice. He glanced up at Hawkpaw, embarrassment getting a hold of him, without the tabby he wouldn't even be alive. Why did he always have to mess up!

Lilly hoarsely laughed once more, moving to join the small grey kit and the brown tabby tom.
"Aye'un, lets take'um to de Twoleg'a place we-b-a stay'una et! Deys'um be'll nice und'a warm'eh theres'a!" Lilly said heartily, front legs spread out infront of her and head tilted slightly to the side, down by Ash's face. She mosed the Ashkit in the direction then did the same to the tabby, who growled deep in his throat.
Although he was slightly angered, Ashkit face planting fixed that. Hawk erupted into laughter, cutting it short at the kit's extent.
"Jeez, walk much?"he asked sort of quietly, moving closer to the grey kit and nudging him gently. "I know you must be tired. Let's stick with the senile old hag and Inkheart." he said, voice slightly warm despite the fact that Thunderclan's scent was all over the small cats body.
Lilly laughed. Such a short time, and the tabby already knew her!

Ashkit blinked slightly smiling,"M'kay."
Inkheart snorted nudging him,"Let's a go clanners!"
The she-cat bounded forward with a leap turning slightly to look at the cats. A dangerous grin spread across her face, as she beckoned them to follow. Ashkit stumbled behind everyone, his legs a lot shorter. Even though he should be an apprentice by now, he was much too small for his age - about the size of an 3moon old kit.(AN: so he's about half the size he should be for his age) Inkheart glanced back at them every now and then, to make sure everyone was still with her. Ash glanced around the forest surrounding them, they had crossed the river and began to head through the forest. Did that mean a Thunderclan patrol could catch them? Shaking his head, the kit tried pushing negative thoughts away.
For some reason, he would rather be here than home...for some reason he liked the unknown cats better than his clan mates. Was it just him that Thunderclan disliked...or was something wrong with his clan? Everyone always looked down on Ashkit, they had never yelled at his sister for anything! Slowly the small roofs of Twoleg buildings became closer and closer into a larger view. Ashkit pushed himself harder trying to not fall behind the others. Then within a little more amount of time, Inkheart came to a halt. They sat in front of a small abandon building, that looked as if it had been deserted for moons.
"Well come on clanners, Home it is!" yowled Inkheart dashing inside the small hole in the large oak colored door.
Ash stumbled behind, squeezing through the opening. Looking around he gazed at the building surrounding them.
"...you leave here?" he meowed.

Lily followed along quickly, keeping the brown tabby tom somewhat close to her. She walked and occasionally checked on the positions of the others. Lime green eyes made damn sure neither of the small toms snuck out of her sight. Light grey fur was polluted with leaves and other debris by the time they entered the area that enclosed the twoleg nest. A light laugh escaped her maw, one that was now a but forlorn.
"Home'ith indeed'n" she agreed, nodding to Inkheart.
Since the sun was setting over the blue sky, a yawn escaped her maw now. With a smile she left the tom and young kit, sure the wet, tired cats would follow them as she moved inside.
Continuing to walk over to her sleeping spot on the rug, Lily began to pick the stuff out of her fur.
"Wow, this is....nice." commented Hawkpaw, amused.
Ashkit blinked looking around, why would anyone live here. I mean sure it was warm - but a twoleg place! He yawned slightly and flicked his tail to the side. Glancing back at Hawkpaw he gave a shrug and went to lay down.
Inkheart snorted,"Don't need any of you sarcastic bitching kid," she stared right at Hawkpaw.
Ashkit stared at Inkheart,"Most....clan cats don't go anywhere near twoleg things Inkie."
The she-cat smiled at him,"Mmmm I know sweetheart, but I rather he keep his trap shut - we offered both of yah a place to stay you know."
Ashkit shivered as a small draft entered the house, the run had dried a little of his fur, but he was still soaked to the bone.
Lilly had, at some point fallen asleep at some point. The older grey she-cat lay on one side, sleeping soundly now, like nothing ever happened.
Hawk looked at her, the tired tom looking at Ashkit and Inkie before walking over to Lily, laying down and cuddling against her fur. Tomorrow him and Ash would have to start heading home, back to there annoying clans. With a sigh Hawk decided that it would be fine, for now at least. Muscles un-tensing, the tome shut his dark blue eyes, waiting for his brain to shut down enough to allow sleep.
Inkheart soon drifted into sleep as well, becoming oblivious to the world around her. That left Ashkit, the only one still awake in the dead night. He tossed and turned on hours, kinda glad he was by himself. If he had slept near anyone, he would of kept them awake all night also. With a sigh the pale gray kit stood onto his paws and walked outside. Looking up, the moon was half full, all the medicine cats would of visited moonstone tonight.
Shivering Ashkit felt a huge gust of wind as it pushed him slightly forward. Though in the dead of night, he saw two figures. Fear shot through his pelt as the two large figures caught his eye. Who else would be out at this time? He glanced at the twoleg house wondering if he should warn someone...but what if they meant no harm? Then he would of bugged someone for no reason at all. A small whimper escaped from his throat as he backed out some. Something snapped behind him and Ashkit jumped, but he had only stepped on a twig.
Maybe they were only some kittypets returning to their house...or some loners wondering around at night. They were probably harmless...harmless he repeated again and again to him self. Taking in a deep breath he stood tall and tried to look big as possible.
"Who's there?" he called out.

A form, large and threatening in size, followed the sound once more. At first he had believed it to be a a loner running through his turf, but it seemed the form was actually a small, gray kit. Or maybe a very young apprentice. This matter aside, Tigerstar was not pleased by the cat being in his area. With a small, light chuckle deep within his throat, Tigerstar approached the young cat more, moving over so his head leaned into the young cats face.
"Boo!" said Tiger, laughing slightly.
The long, scary scar was evident on his throat, reaching down his side a bit. Ohyes, his beautiful scar. Tiger knew somewhere in the area, perhaps right beside him, Scourge was laughing. Probably laughing as well. Ember eyes locked themselves onto the kits, just waiting for it to run away somewhere so he could give chase. Give chase and hunt down the small tom, who stank of the Twoleg place and loners.
As the thought of a chance crossed his mind, h became aware of another presence. He did not need to turn to know Scourge was there, behind him, out of sight. Ember eyes narrowed a bit, looking at the gray kit intently.

He stumbled backwards letting a soflt whine come from his throat. Ash trembled wildly and stared wide-eye at the large tom in front of him.
"H-Hawkpaw!" he wailed turning to run into the house's enterence.
He leaped at the small tabby jummping up and down trying to wake the other.
"HAWK!"he sceamed. "There is cats a-and they're big a-and scary and there's c-cats!"
He wailed loudly pushing against him whimpering as tremblings had completely took over his body.
Hawkpaw rolled over sleepily, but ultimately got up to see what was happening. He was sure that Ash had only had a nightmare, but what good was there in telling the tom that if he wasn't sure? Absolutely none. Walking slowly towards the entrance, Hawkpaw peered out of the small hole...only to see something large looking back at him. With a startled yowl he jumped back, turning to Lili.
"Hey! Old lady! Wake up!." he yelled, backing up from the door.

Ashkit was running around the house in panic. Running into or onto anything in his way. Including smashing into Inkheart and flipping over her back.
"W...What the hell?" she muttered sleepily.
Ashkit was wailing throwing a complete hysterical tantrum.
"We're gonna die!"he wailed."Oh starclan...mother fucking mousebrain shit foxdung die!"
Inkheart stared at him,"Language child!"
She went up to go outside to see what was wrong ignoring Ashkit telling her that she would get killed. The pale kit wailed again and hid underneath Hawkpaw. Ash whined covering his face with his paws and curling his tail around himself.
Outside Tiger and Scourge sat side, amused by the cats antics. So it had been Hawkpaw he'd seen. A chuckle escaped Scourge chest, looking at Tiger then back inside the den. When the she-cat emerged from the den, Tiger turned his attention on her.
"That little grey one is quiet the mighty one, huh?" Tiger asked sarcastically.

Inkheart growled deeply,"He's only a child for god sake, don't blame him since he was raised by pathetic clanners anyways."
The large she-cat lashed her tail angrily,"Now the true question is who the hell are you! I swear if your one of those clan cats thinkin' you can just waltz right in, I'll skin yah alive!"
Her claws flexed as she lashed her tail wildly. Stupid clanners...stupid toms...stupid...stupid cats in general! She glanced back at Ash who had his face smashed to the ground and his ears covered. With a sigh she looked at Hawk and then back to the cats infront of her.
"WELL?"she hissed. "Out with it you damn tom I don't got all day!"
